COURSE DESCRIPTION:

In this course, you will build the critical thinking and data-driven decision-making skills needed to succeed as a business professional and emerging leader. You will explore how people make decisions, why mistakes and biases occur, and how structured thinking can improve judgment in real-world business situations. Throughout the course, you will practice analyzing problems, evaluating information, and making thoughtful decisions under uncertainty.

You will also learn how data supports effective leadership and business decisions. The course introduces practical tools for analyzing data and using visualization to communicate insights clearly and persuasively. These skills help leaders make informed choices, justify recommendations, and communicate with diverse stakeholders.

A key part of the course is the practicum experience, which connects classroom learning to career readiness. You will participate in professional development activities, including Handshake and LinkedIn presentations offered by the Career and Professional Development Team, self-branding exercises, career fair participation, and reflective career documentation. These experiences are designed to help you translate your skills into professional opportunities.

By the end of the course, you will be better prepared to think critically, use data responsibly, and apply leadership skills in academic, professional, and organizational settings.
